Kölaälven (green LED)

Orientation: 

We start this tour on the Swedish side of the border in Askesjöns north end just where the road crossing the strait between the Norse Sea and Askesjön. IN 
Askesjöns southern part you will find a swimming and camping with toilet. The trail passes through agricultural areas and follows the start of the winding Kölaälven, approximately 35 km.

The trail is suitable for families because it is relatively easy and with less land transport.

Difficulty:

Easy trail largely in river (Kölaälven 35 km) and small lakes. Often used by families.

7 st. (300m - 6.500m) Glafsfjorden to Värmeln 6500 m, can be excluded.

Water:

We recommend that drinking water be brought in a can, while all cooking can be done with seawater (which is boiled). If possible, do not use the water that is in the watercourses directly outside the urban areas you pass.

Fishing licenses are available for purchase at Sandvikengården. Canoe trail fishing license D, SEK 100 per week and canoe. Does not apply in Glafsfjorden!

Värmeln (yellow LED)

Orientation: 

This trail goes through old cultural traditions where the first settlers in Värmland settled, mainly in the lake Värmeln. Start and finish at Sandvikengården. The paddling is done in Värmeln and Little Värmeln pass Borgvik in Värmelns southern end. The beaches have unusually little buildings and a large number of islands suitable for overnight stays.

The right of public access gives not only the right to stay in nature but also obligations to live up to. 

It requires responsibility, judgment and consideration. We do not allow groups over three canoes.

Land
You must not pass over land or land that can be damaged. Even residents on plots that are not fenced have the right to be left alone, passing at a distance of at least 100 meters. Do not forget to close if necessary. gates after you. You are not allowed to land at private piers.
tenting 
Camping for XNUMX hours on suitable land that is far from dwelling houses is permitted. When staying in a larger group, the landowner must be consulted. Leave the ground as if you have not been there. You are not allowed to camp in bathing areas and similar public areas.
Heating
The law's rules on firing are strict. During your canoe trip, you may set fire to the arranged fire places in connection with the windbreaks that are available after the fire. Fire is only permitted if there is no risk of fire or other damage and is completely prohibited in Norway. Never fire in dry or windy weather. You can call 054-15 50 15 (answering machine) to get current information about any. fire risk. Be very careful to extinguish after you! The supply of firewood is very limited and you collect it from the ground in the forest.
Bathing
Bathing and mooring by boat or canoe is allowed as long as it is not on or in close proximity to the plot or where there may be special rules such as. bird sanctuary.
Paddle 
on someone else's water is almost always allowed. Do not leave any traces of you in the form of eg. debris, fireplaces (own fireplaces may NOT be built!) or wind shelter. Bring all the waste and dig down stools and toilet paper at least a decimeter.
You may pick
wild berries, mushrooms, fallen branches and dry rice and wild flowers that are not protected. However, you must not take twigs, branches, twigs, bark, leaves, ollon, nuts or resin from growing trees or shrubs.

To be allowed to fish in our lakes, a fishing license is required. We sell municipal and canoe trail fishing licenses.

Sandvikengården's canoe center has routes for one to about ten days in most of western Värmland. We have a full transport service and drive almost every day new canoe guests for a canoe adventure to one of the starting points for the trip. When booking, you will receive a complete itinerary for the route you choose. 

You can choose to paddle in waters other than those we suggest! We can also help you with shuttle service to the nature reserve Glaskogen, which is another popular destination.

Canoe rentals Arvika - canoeing across western Värmland


Sandvikengården is western Värmland oldest canoe center just outside Arvika. We have 40 canoes and a few kayaks and related equipment that we rent out. We also hire out tents, camp stoves and other things that might be good for canoe trips.

At Sandvikengården there are also rooms and cottages for rent, a small campsite, swimming, dining, kiosk, church, shower and sauna.

Canoeing on the trails for a canoe trip on one to about ten days in most of the western Värmland. We have complete transportation services and run almost every day new canoe guests for a canoe adventure to one of the starting points for the tour. At booking, you get a complete roadmap for the route you choose.

Please note that we do not allow groups over three canoes (6 people).


Usually we start the journey to the starting point at 10.00 and transportation can not be arranged after the clock 16.00.
